The Pathology and Biobanking Core overseen by Dr. George Miles is looking for a research associate to acquire, store, and utilize human biospecimens for cancer research, to coordinate and manage the pathology activities of this SPORE project, and ensure that Project Investigators have ready access to specialized pathology expertise and interpretation. Job Duties
- Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments; Collects, compiles and analyzes data.
- Selects, evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research.
- Develops new model and technique to support the cancer-related research in the lab.
- Ensures that laboratory equipment and supplies are clean and sterile, and maintains the cleanliness of the laboratory.
- Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Oversees histological procedures : tissue preparation, slide preparation, IHC / IF staining.
- Performs routine histological preparation and procedures on tissue in order to aid cell pathology.
- Designs and validates biomarker-based tests (genomic and / or proteomic) that support all project stages, including clinically-validated and reported assays for SPORE-based clinical trials.
