Job Summary: The Maintenance Technician Lead, under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, will be responsible for troubleshooting equipment issues, conducting repairs, and performing preventative maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have a strong hands-on understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems, and the ability to interpret service manuals and schematics for all equipment. To be considered, applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of related mechanical experience in an industrial manufacturing setting, with preference for experience in food processing facilities, including troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing equipment and systems in a plant environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair all equipment promptly to ensure continuous operations and optimal performance.
- Apply knowledge of food safety, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), and HACCP in a food manufacturing setting. Ensure adherence to these standards.
- Demonstrate mechanical expertise in various areas, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, and carpentry. Troubleshoot and repair process and packaging equipment (e.g., coils, valves, PLCs, motors, and controllers).
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, refrigeration, steam, and compressed air systems, as well as pumps, meters, and valves.
- Read and interpret hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and emergency repairs of production equipment and building systems as required.
- Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Collaborate with the production supervisor to coordinate and expedite repairs.
- Complete daily work orders and maintain hands-on involvement in all repair operations.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of related mechanical experience in an industrial manufacturing setting, with preference for experience in food processing facilities.
- Willingness to be available on-call for a 5-7 day operation and work overtime when required, including weekends.
- High School diploma or Technical School education preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to develop quick solutions.
- Fluency in English.
- Experience in maintaining a preventive maintenance program are advantageous.
- Familiarity with regulatory safety requirements.
- Ability to apply common sense and logical reasoning to perform tasks efficiently.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
