Requirements
Summary
The microbiologist performs related functions such as assisting and executing laboratory testing and data
analysis, test method development, stability, validation development and implementation and environmental monitoring.
Essential Functions
· Adhere with SOPs and regulatory requirements such as GMPs, GDPs, GLPs and OSHA regulations
· Perform microbiological testing related for the following microbiological test methods:
· Microbial Enumeration and Specified Microorganism (MET / SMT) testing per USP 61/ 62 * Antimicrobial Effectiveness
Testing (AET) per USP 51 * Preservative Effectiveness Testing (PET) per USP 51 * Purified/Source Water testing per USP
1231 * Environmental Monitoring (EM)
· Knowledge and experience performing serial dilutions
· Experience Handling Biohazardous materials*
· Perform process validation, routine EM, cleaning validation testing, Stability Monitoring
· Microbiological growth promotion and sterility verification testing
· Receive, and release media, buffers, and microorganism cultures
· Update and review microbiological trending
· Review / record daily temperature readings of the temperature-controlled units (TCUs)
· Sanitize the laboratory incubators and refrigerators per the company procedures
· Maintain and coordinate equipment / instrumentation maintenance, calibration, and repair work
· Clean and sanitize the microbiology laboratory rooms surfaces and equipment
· Participate in the proper and timely execution of testing activities in the production areas and laboratories including but not
limited to microbiological and antibiotic testing.
· Perform OOS investigations and assist in investigating root causes.
· Follow established standard operating procedures and methods.
· Demonstrates independence and proficiency in performing tests for all products supported by work group.
· Independently plan and completes testing, data evaluation and reporting to meet productivity, quality and teamwork metrics.
· Identifies suspect/out of trend data and works with management to complete an investigation.
· Maintain compliance with legal regulations on occupational safety and health.
· Comply with laboratory policies and procedures preventive action & continuous improvement programs to reduce operating costs
· Primary responsibilities do not limit the responsibilities to work in the analytical lab. Help in the analytical lab as needed.
· Other duties as needed.

· Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus
Expected Hours of Work
· Monday – Friday, 40 hours
· Some Saturdays as needed
Required Education and Experience
· Associate’s degree and 5 years related experience or BS, and 2 years related experience.
· Pharmaceutical experience is preferred.
