What you'll do
As a Product Control Associate, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the daily P&L and monthly balance sheet reporting within NatWest Markets operating in the United States. This will help the bank to effectively manage its trading position, demonstrate strong daily controls and enable management of market risk.
You’ll establish and maintain strong working relationships with key customers and stakeholders across several teams and regions. Delivering high quality and consistent financial, statutory, regulatory and management reporting outputs. You’ll comply with relevant policies and consider and escalate the adequacy and effectiveness of the business’s controls on a regular basis.
Day to day, you’ll:
Provide oversight and review of the Edinburgh support team on various activities including revenue analysis and flash vs actual controls.Oversee production of daily, weekly, and monthly P&L Reports to senior management.
Oversee offshore production of reconciliations, accounting, MI and control activities to support the ledger close, reconciliation, substantiation and reporting.
Oversee offshore production of month-end accounting, such as journals preparation, reviews and account reconciliation.
Provide onshore maintenance of the US Hierarchy including creation of new books to support the business/traders.
Support change initiatives, process improvements and in system implementations that impact the US region.
Work closely with technology, operations, and front office to Investigate process or system issues.
Support systems testing, such as user acceptance testing and system or process improvement initiatives.
The skills/experience you'll need:
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring experience in core financial control delivery and reporting outputs, including ledger close, balance sheet substantiation, statutory and management reporting and external audit.
We’ll also look to you to have:
3-5 years of product control experience at a financial institution or public accounting with a focus on the financial industryKnowledge of accounting standards and financial products.
Experience of delivering change in a financial services environment.
The ability to identify, build and enhance key relationships at a senior level.
Experience of investigating and probing issues with cross-business impact.
An understanding of intercompany and contra account usage requirements and intercompany reconciliations and substantiation.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
BA in Accounting or Finance; Masters in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration a plus
Certified Public Accountant (‘CPA’) a plus
The expected base annual salary range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000 at the start of employment. This is not a guarantee of compensation. The exact compensation is determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on skills, experience, training licensure, certifications and location.
