Nauset Construction Corp. is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee key accounting functions and support the Controller in managing the company’s financial operations. This role is responsible for, but is not limited to, administering accounts receivable and payable, insurance, compliance, financial reporting, and budgeting. You will work directly with the firm’s Controller, project, and senior management teams, to implement financial strategies that support the company’s growth and profitability.
Job Description:
- Perform day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, and cash flow management.
- Manage Work-In-Progress schedule.
- Monitor and optimize overhead expenses to maximize value.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure effective internal controls.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights on project performance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Plan and perform risk management duties.
- Participate in strategic planning for the organization.
- Assist with the development of annual budgets and support annual planning process.
- Participate in the preparation of financial forecasts & projections.
- Involvement with banking and CPA relationships and support bonding as needed.
- Assist with the preparation of reports and schedules for year-end audits, tax reporting, and compliance testing.
- Support the professional development of the accounting team through proactive coaching and mentoring.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 5 years of progressive, well-rounded accounting experience; construction industry experience preferred.
- Experience managing and coaching, with the ability to guide and develop accounting staff.
- Ability to be hands-on while also envisioning the big picture.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, financial modeling).
· Experience with Sage 300 CRE and Timberscan preferred, or willingness to learn.
Salary : $85,000 - $90,000
