Director of Specialized Programs
LOCATION:

DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT
OF POSITION:
Organization and supervision of the Preschool as well as of special education students in out-of-district placements, parentally placed schools or homeschool programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordination and oversight of Preschool programming
Oversight of entrance and exit transitions for Preschool
Evaluation of preschool teachers and educational assistants
Coordination of Extended School Year Services for the District
Coordination of special education students in Out-of-District placements
Coordination of special education students in parentally placed private schools
Coordination of special education students in homeschool programs
Confers with administration (Principal and Administrator) regularly regarding student/staff issues, program planning and development, IEP implementations and program evaluation
Ensures school compliance with special education laws and regulations
Works with building-based teams, staff, parents and advocates to develop and implement efficient/effective service delivery models reflecting best practice
Prepares preschool special education student and general education student enrollment projections for following school year
Advises administrators in recommendations of related professional development training for preschool staff
Participates with school administration in interviewing staff
Communicates the need for transportation services of students placed in special programs both in and out of district to the transportation manager
Manages complex and challenging cases, by maintaining effective parent, staff, advocate and OOD school contact
Works with Administrator, other coordinators to insure consistency, cohesion and coordination of practices across the district
QUALIFICATIONS:
MA licensure in Special Education Administrator, MA licensure in Special Education/Early Childhood, MA license in School Administration, Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement (SEI) and familiarity with preschool children and with chairing Team Meeting preferred; Knowledgeable of Massachusetts and federal special education regulations.
SALARY:
Individual Contract
AVAILABILITY:
July 1, 2025 205 Days, The work schedule will consist of 185-day school year plus the equivalent of 20 additional full work days.
