History Teacher in High School grades 9-12; Applicant must have content fluency in History, excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge of current trends in education, demonstrated ability to work well with others, and a strong desire to assist students in being successful. Candidate will perform duties within a departmental setting and implement an instructional program which provides appropriate learning experiences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Massachusetts certification History (grades 9-12). Previous classroom experience required.

AP United States History Position Overview:
Nauset Regional High School is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable, and student-centered Long-Term Substitute AP U.S. History Teacher to join our Social Studies Department for the 2025–2026 academic year. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering rigorous, College Board-aligned instruction in Advanced Placement U.S. History (APUSH) and possibly additional history courses, depending on scheduling needs.
This is a full-time position covering for a teacher on leave. The candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a high standard of academic excellence and support student success in preparation for the AP exam in May.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in AP U.S. History that prepares students for the AP Exam.
- Utilize College Board materials and AP Classroom tools effectively.
- Create and implement lesson plans that reflect a deep understanding of U.S. history and historical thinking skills.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Assess student performance regularly through formative and summative assessments.
- Provide timely feedback and academic support to students.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and performance.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and staff.
- Collaborate with the History Department and other school staff to support a positive learning environment.
- Participate in professional development and faculty meetings as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in History, Education, or a related field
- Valid [State] Teaching License or Certification (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience teaching U.S. History at the high school level
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in History, Education, or a related field
- Previous experience teaching AP U.S. History
- Familiarity with College Board standards and AP Exam preparation

- Experience with differentiated instruction and technology integration
