Job Summary:
The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and sanitation of all floors in the nursing home, including carpeted, tile, and hard surface floors. This role ensures that the facility provides a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Floor Care:
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors in resident rooms, hallways, common areas, dining areas, and other spaces.
- Perform floor maintenance tasks such as stripping, waxing, buffing, and polishing hard surface floors.
- Shampoo and deep clean carpets as needed.
- Ensure floors are clean, safe, and dry to prevent slips and falls.
- Sanitation & Cleaning:
- Follow proper infection control procedures when cleaning and sanitizing floors.
- Remove trash and debris from floor surfaces.
- Clean baseboards, corners, and edges to ensure all areas are spotless.
- Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
- Operate and maintain floor care equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, and vacuums.
- Report any maintenance issues or repairs needed for cleaning equipment.
- Follow safety protocols while using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Collaboration:
- Work with the housekeeping and maintenance teams to ensure overall cleanliness of the facility.
- Assist in setting up areas for events or special occasions as needed.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all safety guidelines to ensure a secure environment for residents and staff.
- Comply with infection control policies, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Requirements:
- Experience:
- Previous experience as a Floor Technician or in a similar custodial or janitorial role preferred.
- Experience in a healthcare or nursing home setting is a plus.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of floor care techniques, including stripping, waxing, and buffing.
- Ability to operate floor care equipment safely and effectively.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to bend, kneel, and use repetitive motions while performing cleaning duties.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
