What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Custodian position at Navajo County?
Under direct supervision, performs service work of routine difficulty in custodial duties for County facilities; performs related work as assigned.

· Coordinates and plans work assignments and vacation schedules for assigned custodians; counsels custodians when necessary; establishes priority work assignments.
· Orders and maintains supply inventory.
· Maintains Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) files.
· Responds to all custodial complaints and concerns.
· Coordinates County facilities' recycling program.
· Picks up and empties trash, vacuums, cleans, and maintains assigned County offices and buildings.
· Identifies and reports repair needs.
· Makes minor repairs.
· Operates and maintains vehicles assigned by checking oil, fluids, and air pressure.
· Cleans and disinfects toilets, sinks, mirrors, hand plates, dispensers, fountains, glass doors and windows according to prescribed methods.
· Cleans up spills as needed; disposes of soiled materials properly.
· Operates vacuums, buffers, shop vacs, sweepers, and utilizes mops, brooms, and waxing equipment to clean floors.
· Empties trash receptacles and washes them when soiled. Relines receptacles with bags as needed.
· Recycles cardboard and paper.
· Stocks paper in restrooms; fills soap dispensers.
· Dusts high and low levels of all building furniture and fixtures.
· Changes light bulbs, light tubes and ballasts.
· Orders supplies, chemicals and cleaning equipment.
· Works outdoors under varying weather conditions.
· Maintains MSDS sheets, keeping them current and up to date.
· Locks and secures building in order to allow only authorized individuals in the buildings.
· Knowledge of procedures, materials and equipment used in custodial work.
· Knowledge of occupational hazards and required preventative measures.
· Knowledge of cleaning equipment operations, simple repairs and replacement of used parts and supplies.
· Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision.
· Skill in maintaining safety standards.
· Skill in effectively communicating verbally and in writing.
· Skill to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
· Skill in planning, organizing and directing the work of others.
One year commercial custodial experience.
