Position Summary :
The Dishwasher / Cashier will clean items, restock, and handle cash and credit cards for purchases, and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
May assist supervisor with ordering I food items, as requested. The Dishwasher / Cashier is responsible for the cleanliness of the cafeteria as well as ensuring that all stations are fully stocked for day-to-day operation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Ensure the availability of clean dishes by bussing tables, washing dishes, pots, pans, and flatware, and resetting dining area.
- Clean machines and appliances used in the kitchen such as coffee makers, pots, pans, mixers, soda fountain machines, etc.
- Immediately reports machinery malfunctions to the supervisor to address.
- Sweep and mop floors.
- Take out trash and floor mats, and rinse and reline garbage cans.
- Remove clean, dry items from the machine and moves to designated spaces so that cooks and wait staff can conveniently reach for them as needed.
- May be required to wash large or fragile items by hand using appropriate gloves, apron, etc.
- Report cafeteria accidents or violations of food safety codes and procedures to the supervisor to address.
- Operate the cash register to process customers’ payments.
- Print and document daily sales reports at the end of day.
- At times may be responsible for completing daily cash drops with the Finance Department.
- Support other cafeteria staff members by assisting with other tasks, as needed.
- Assist department with inventory for order preparation, as needed.
- Assist with shipment and receiving of food orders from vendors following established processes.
- Responsible for ensuring self-serve stations are sufficiently stocked with plates, silverware, cups, trays for customer use.
- Assist with routine established preventive maintenance checklists.
- Accept and handle cash / credit card purchases from customers.
- Accept and relay orders placed via telephone to line cooks.
- Prepare deposit forms and make cash deposits following shift.
- Avoid gossip and hearsay to ensure a professional work environment by reporting issues to the supervisor.
- Follow established organizational policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications :
- Knowledge of use of dishwashing machinery and cash register.
- Knowledge of appropriate dishwashing and sanitation methods and practices.
- Ability to comply with all food safety procedures.
- Ability to practice excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to demonstrate trustworthiness and strong ethical principles with money management.
- Knowledge of effective inventory management systems
- Knowledge of computer applications involving cafeteria software helpful
- Ability to lift items overhead to stock and restock shelves
- Ability to seek department improvement through visual display.
Physical Demands :
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to reach and grasp objects;
- reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand;
and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment :
Work is generally performed in an office with moderate noise level. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications :
- One (1) year of combination experience of performing dishwashing and cashier duties.
- Possess a valid Navajo Nation Food Handlers Permit during tenure of employment.
- Must be able to successfully pass the Employee Health Program requirements and background investigation.
