General Maintenance Worker/Electrician will work under the supervision of the Facility Supervisor/Facility Superintendent, who will provide assignments, guidelines and time schedules. Worker will be responsible for all electrical work on the compound (hospital/housing). Also, responsible for electrical inspections and keeping up with any changes in the code compliance as well as materials that are out dated. Must be able to assess problems and find solutions in a timely manner. Needs to be willing to help with any scopes in facilities.

It is the first Native-managed private comprehensive health care system in the country, and has been managed since 1978 by an independent, entirely Navajo Board of Directors.
Sage Memorial Hospital is the only Native American hospital to hold both a license from the Arizona Department of Health Services and Accreditation from The Joint Commission.
The hospital campus is located on private land owned by the Presbyterian Church, within the Navajo Nation Reservation. The organization includes a Critical Access Hospital and outpatient clinic, and an outpatient clinic 28 miles away in Greasewood Springs, AZ.

- Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of all NHF buildings, and employee residences.
- Plan and coordinate activities of general maintenance workers.
- Responsible for development and implementation of an ongoing Preventive Electrical Maintenance program.
- Responsible for maintaining electrical compliance with State and federal building codes, Fire and Safety regulations and environmental Health regulations.
- Follows oral instructions or written work orders concerning the location of the job and the work to be done, the work is largely without direct supervision.
- Exercise independent judgement, make selections from a wide variety of materials and equipment and substitutes on his/her initiative.
- Accountable for the quantity and quality of work done, directing the work operations passing on orders and instructions and is responsible to the supervisor for:
- Demonstrate proper work methods.
- Ensure that needed plans, blueprints, materials and tools are available.
- Obtain needed information or decisions from supervisors on problems that come up during the work.
- Maintain current knowledge when answering questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives.
- Assure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
- Complete work once in progress and inform departments on location of worksite and provide an estimated completion time.
- Report to Supervisor on status and progress of work and causes of work delays and answer questions on overall work operations and problems.
- Replace electrical switches, switch plates, outlets, light fixture, etc., make repairs to frayed or broken wiring. Check malfunctions of various electrical equipment such as automatic switching units, thermostats, small equipment transformers, motors, pilot light controls, etc. Correct problem by adjustment of replacement of the unit or defective parts.
- Perform trouble shooting with various types of meters or instruments on electrical equipment, boilers, furnace, kitchen equipment, well controls, pump/motors, electrical controls, lighting and electrical systems. Maintain and operate low-pressure boilers of various types.
- Periodically make observation of meters/charts to determine such thing as heat and water requirements/utilization; pressures, water and steam flow, etc., and determine proper adjustments necessary for maximum efficiency and utilization.
- Check various types of the equipment, e.g., fire alarm systems, nurse call system special systems, refrigeration units, etc., doing minor maintenance and replacing controls, starters, etc., report major problems to Facility Manager.
- Responsible for ensuring proper operation of all electrical components of well pumps through periodic checks of water storage tanks for adequate water level. Perform minor service and repair and manual operation of the pumps. Perform periodic minor adjustments when necessary.
- Maintain cooperative communication with other NHF departments to coordinate services for better patient care.
- Provide inventory control of supplies and equipment assigned to the department. Maintain Preventive Maintenance and Quality Control records as necessary.
- Responsibility includes serving as the electrician for NHF facilities.
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
