Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the EVS Supervisor and the general supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, accomplishes the Environmental Service Department's strategic objectives by completing the assigned functions required to operate and maintain departmental activities and services. Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, stooping and climbing while observing personal safety and ergonomic safety features. Requires to the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
Requires activities involving being around machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases. Work is generally performed in a clinical setting with moderate noise level. Extended hours and irregular shifts; may be required to take "call-back" shift hours as directed.

Sage Memorial Hospital is the only Native American hospital to hold both a license from the Arizona Department of Health Services and Accreditation from The Joint Commission.
The hospital campus is located on private land owned by the Presbyterian Church, within the Navajo Nation Reservation. The organization includes a Critical Access Hospital and outpatient clinic, and an outpatient clinic 28 miles away in Greasewood Springs, AZ.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with executing the EVS Department's quality assurance program initiatives.
- Observe, apply, and communicate department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures in accordance with the strategic plan.
- Perform scheduled and assigned tasks and maintain the assigned area of the hospital.
- Provide a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for patients and employees.
- Maintain a clean environment for designated areas when assigned.
- Clean assigned areas according to the designated procedure utilizing appropriate solutions and disinfectants to prevent spread of infection.
- Empty waste receptacles and bio-receptacles, including soiled linen to a safe confined and designated area. (i.e., bio-shed).
- Correctly utilize EVS equipment according to the manufacturer's instruction and according to the policies and procedures. Equipment includes damp cloths, treated dust mops, vacuum cleaners, and "microfiber" floor buffer.
- Sanitize and clean sinks, tubs, shower, mirrors, and similar lavatory areas.
- Sanitize and clean bed frames, mattresses, and pillows.
- Prepare linen and other items that require laundering or dry cleaning.
- Wash wastebaskets and reline with plastic bags.
- Clean light covers, door frames, high places, using a ladder when necessary.
- Collect soiled linen from various areas, package, and deliver it to the designated area for soiled laundry.
- Sort, count, record, and stamp laundered items received from laundry before storing and/or shelving.
- Check and change shower curtains, window curtains and curtain between beds as scheduled periodically.
- Replenish supplies of soap, towels, tissue, and other dispensable items.
- Assist with moving office and home furniture within applicable schedule environment, when performing environmental tasks.
- Inspect cleaning equipment before and after use.
- Notify department supervisor of low supplies and mechanical equipment failure.
- Provide inventory control of supplies, linens and equipment assigned to the department.
- Maintain preventive maintenance and quality control records as necessary.
- Assist other EVS Technicians in assigned areas, as instructed.
- Maintain cooperative communication with other departments to coordinate services for better patient care.
- Keep the department informed of status of activities and of significant events and problems by attending meetings, submitting reports, and meeting individually as necessary.
- Ensure confidentiality of all employee and patient information.
- Attend regular staff meetings to ensure communication among personnel regarding program-related activities.
- Contribute to departmental effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-term goals and issues that must be addressed; provide information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommend options and courses of actions; implement directives.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by conducting basic research; attending seminars, educational workshops, classes, and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.
- Complete all required hospital and department mandatory training and competency requirements within the set timeframe.
- Travel to rural clinics to perform environmental service duties.
- May be subject to on call duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of applicable Arizona Department of Health and The Joint Commission regulations.
- Knowledge of company personnel policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of standardized housekeeping techniques.
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment, materials, and cleaning solutions.
- Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets.
- Knowledge of applicable infection control and safety procedures.

Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
- Six (6) months of progressive work experience in Environmental Service, Housekeeping, or similar position requiring similar techniques preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver license with a clean driving record, and service rural clinics.
- Must be able to successfully pass the Employee Health Program requirements and background investigation.
