Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Department Supervisor, the volunteer/student worker accomplishes the department’s strategic goals and objectives by planning and organizing. The incumbent for this position has three main areas of responsibilities: to assist in an office with clerical duties or outside labor work, provide assistance to office initiatives in efforts to gain knowledge about department responsibilities, and provide a helping hand to department staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands and arms to reach; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
Work is generally performed in an office with moderate noise level. For Student Workers hours are 8 am -5 pm. Adult workers depending on irregular schedule applicant may be required to work a different schedule.

Sage Memorial Hospital is the only Native American hospital to hold both a license from the Arizona Department of Health Services and Accreditation from The Joint Commission.
The hospital campus is located on private land owned by the Presbyterian Church, within the Navajo Nation Reservation. The organization includes a Critical Access Hospital and outpatient clinic, and an outpatient clinic 28 miles away in Greasewood Springs, AZ.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide administrative/receptionist duties and any clerical assistance needed by department.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and forwarding calls to appropriate staff.
- Prioritize learning how to conduct assessment of office needs for scheduling and coordinating work where needed.
- Must attend mandatory training.
- Must follow Sage Memorial Hospital rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Duties listed below may be performed by Student Worker/Volunteer but by no means are all inclusive:
- May disinfect surfaces for both patient care and employee use.
- May tidy up clinical areas for the next patient.
- Deliver highly confidential files to and from department.
- Organize files and documents in the assigned department.
- Shred documents as needed per office regulations.
- Accompany clients and/or family members to appropriate areas and/or give directions to a location on campus.
- Coordinate weekly schedule with immediate supervisor.
- Assist with tasks while employed within a department.
- Perform all other supportive duties as requested that are appropriate for Student Worker education and training.
- May be required to handle garden tools or non-mechanical tools.
- May use office machines, i.e., copier, fax, telephone or shredder.
- Must be able to read/write English.
- Must be fluent in the Navajo Language and/or be familiar with the Navajo Way of life.
- Must have a working knowledge of privacy laws relating to patient confidentiality.

- Currently enrolled in High School; or has a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
- Age Requirement: Fourteen (14) years of age or older
- Must successfully pass the Human Resources Onboarding Process and obtain Employee Health clearance.
