What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cashier position at Navajo Health Foundation?
Position Summary:
The cashier will report to the Food Service Manager (and/or his/her designee). The cashier will welcome customers, answer questions, help locate items, provide advice or recommendations. The cashier will also operate scanners, scales, cash registers, and other electronics; and will accept payments, ensuring all prices and quantities are accurate and provide a receipt to every customer.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform basis math functions to collect payments and make changes.
- Operate registers, scanners, scales and credit card/debit card terminals.
- Handle exchanges and refunds in a quick, efficient manner.
- Maintain accurate cash drawers.
- Take a tally of the funds in the cash register when required during a shift, at shift change and produce transaction reports.
- Keep the checkout area clean and orderly.
- Greet the costumer entering into the organization.
- Handle all cash transactions of the employee kitchen.
- Receive payment by cash and payment transactions to the supervisor.
- Check daily cash accounts; deposit cash to the Finance Department.
- Guide and solve queries of customer.
- Report daily cash and payment transactions to the supervisor.
- Maintain monthly, weekly, and daily report of transaction.
- Wash dishes to help dish washer and when dish washer is not on schedule.
- Sanitize counters and change out Sanitizer buckets every 2 hours.
- Make the dining area presentable and stocked.
- Sweep, mop dining area where tables are displayed, including service area
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:
- Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen.
- Ability to present a positive, helpful attitude toward customers, including the ability to speak clearly and convey information accurately.
- Ability to process cash payments, credit/debit card payment and effectively process refunds as necessary.
- Knowledge of register operation, including cash, credit cards and register receipts.
- Strong knowledge of mathematics.
- Ability to deposit cash payments daily.
- Ability to speak the Navajo language and/or a familiarity with the Navajo Way.
- Ability to communicate effectively, honesty, sincerity.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to reach and grasp objects; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in an office with moderate noise level. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
