Description:

Must take a personal and active approach to health, safety and environment and understand and follow all state, federal and company health, safety and environmental requirements applicable to the work area and tasks assigned.

Summary of Position:

A Plant Operator must be able to learn and safely perform all facets of coal loadout operations: Silo 1 and Silo 2 train loading, compliance with Customer Contract specifications, utilizing coal quality data, general work area and detailed rail and batch system cleanup. This position requires a high degree of communication and analytical skills. A significant period of training and site-specific experience acquisition is anticipated prior to sign-off on all aspects of the position.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Participates in daily operation of the Plant. This includes: Silo 1 Attendant of (2) crushing and conveying systems, efficient loading of trains, washing and cleaning in all loadout areas, assisting in the safe performing of PM maintenance functions, and safe start up and shutdown of Plant systems.
  • Safely operates support equipment during maintenance or cleanup activities. Maintains work area cleanliness and clean work practices.
  • Monitors (2) crushing/conveying systems and demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and communicate equipment problems.
  • Utilizes computer data systems to assure Customer Contract compliance, efficient use of track and loadout equipment, and to complete timely and accurate reports.
  • Communicates with Plant, Production and Dispatch employees, site contractors, and vendors to effectively manage coal processing, chemical inventories, and coal quality information.
  • Communicates professionally with NTEC Customer Service, Customer PRB representatives, and Railroad Coal Desk Dispatch, as well as participates in demonstrations and Customer tours.

    Qualifications:

  • Successful applicants shall have a history of strong safety commitment, good attendance and work performance meeting company goals and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with little or no supervision, including the ability to assume additional responsibility with minimal supervision.
  • Possession of State of Wyoming Mine Foreman’s Certification Exam, or completion of the Certification as soon as possible after meeting application requirements, is expected.
  • Ability to complete computer training on the Coal Management System (CMS) within 12 months, is expected.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, use a computer and communicate with all levels of the operation.
  • Must have the ability to multi task in a high pressure environment.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights.
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a plant setting preferred.
  • A high school diploma/GED preferred.
  • Consistently display positive behavior that supports the organization’s goals and objectives with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to frequently use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. Employee is required to have the ability to: frequently sit, stand, rotate while sitting or standing, forward bend while sitting or standing, climb stairs, climb stepladders, perform elevated work, grip up to 39 pounds; occasionally lift up to 73 pounds to waist, front carry up to 50 pounds, push with up to 54 pounds of force, forward bend sit, crawl, kneel, and crouch; rarely lift up to 35 pounds to waist, carry up to 50 pounds, perform repetitive squats, shovel various material. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

Working Environment: Plant Operator works in tandem with another Plant Operator. Work area is office settings (control room/loadout booth),silo weigh bin locations and tops, and outdoors. Outdoors work is on foot and/or in equipment cab, in all weather conditions. Work is scheduled with assigned Crew, on rotating 12-hr shifts.
