What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Operator position at Navajo Tribal Utility Authority?
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
Vocational or Specialized Training in Heavy Equipment Operation.
3 - 5 years' experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
Safe and efficient operation of the following, but not limited to: (Dozer, Excavator, Grader, Loader, Backhoe, and Tractor-Trailer Combinations) as well as safety standards.
Possession of a Valid CDL Class "A" License with Hazmat & Tanker Endorsement. (subject to motor vehicle record review).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
Follows all safety procedures while operating equipment.
Operates equipment for specific work orders or account numbers.
Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.
Maintains record of equipment use, mileage, repairs, or routine service required.
Assists in maintaining operating records.
Perform walk-around inspections before and after use to ensure the equipment is working properly.
Cleans equipment after each use and disposes of waste properly.
Assists automotive mechanics in servicing and repairing heavy equipment when necessary.
Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose problems, performs maintenance checks, and report needs for larger repairs to the appropriate parties.
Prepares weekly operating reports as required.
Assists in the mobilization and demobilization of equipment.
Knowledge of material load handling and hauling oversize/overweight equipment, able to effectively secure loads in compliance with regulations.
Requires some after-hours work, weekend standby coverage, and overnight stays away from home.
Assigned to work in all weather conditions.
Strong work ethic and physical ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
