What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Cook position at Navajo Tribal Utility Authority?
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
1 year cook experience.
Valid Navajo Nation Food Handler's Permit preferred.
Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle review).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
Understands and complies completely with all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, directives, assignments, and training programs.
Provides excellent customer service to all guests.
Ensures all items on the line are stocked, filled and at the right temperature.
Keeps utensils and containers clean and ready for use.
Fills in where needed to ensure customer service standards and efficient operations.
Receives warehouse deliveries, checks order against receipt and stores appropriately.
Assists in inventory of food and non-food items.
Reviews production record to determine food requirements including variety and quantity of food for preparation and to assemble supplies and equipment needed for daily cooking activities.
Seasons and prepares a wide variety of foods such as vegetables, fruits, meats, soups, salads, and cereals in accordance with prescribed recipes.
Slices, grinds, and cooks meats and vegetables using a full range of cooking methods; Tests foods being cooked for quality.
Carves and displays meats, vegetables, fruits, and salads; replenishes service lines as necessary.
Prepares and bakes simple pastries and rolls.
Receives warehouse deliveries, checks order against receipt and stores appropriately.
Completes production sheets and other records as required.
Checks and maintains proper food holding and refrigeration temperature control points, ensuring temperature logs are completed daily.
Maintains clean work areas, utensils, and equipment.
Follows cleaning schedules for kitchen floors, mats, walls, hoods, other equipment and food storage areas.
Caters special events as required.
Attends to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies; detects and ensures disposition of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, and/or other unusual conditions.
May be required to prepare special diets according to prescribed standards.
Ensures all equipment is turned off prior to leaving shift.
Handles cash when covering the cashier station and other receipts by adhering to cash handling and reconciliation procedures in accordance with NTUA policies and procedures.
Fully understand and comply with all applicable federal, state, county, and municipal laws, regulations and rules including those that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements in regards to customers and operations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
