What are the responsibilities and job description for the Metrology Engineer position at Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR)?
This position will be with the Metrology Engineering team at Fleet Readiness Center East in Cherry Point, NC. This is a Civil Service position at the GS-12 level and will provide engineering support to the local overhaul facility as well as Fleet activities. This support includes but is not limited to :
- Developing calibration procedures for new tools and test equipment
- Working with aircraft component OEMs and local engineers to ensure all component testing accuracies / tolerances are achieved
- Investigating Out of Tolerance (OOT) incidents for calibration standards
- Analyzing complex calibration procedures to provide solutions to requests from Production and Fleet customers
- Investigating new technologies to aid in modernization of existing Navy calibration standards
- Ideal Candidate Profile : Experience in Metrology / Calibration required; Navy Metrology / Calibration experience preferred
- Education profile : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university; mechanical, aerospace, and electrical engineering degrees
- Skills : Basic Engineering Knowledge, Problem Solving, Verbal and Written Communication, Technical Writing
- Experience : 3 years
