Responsibilities You will identify type of material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, shelving, restraints) necessary to move or store heavy, bulky, or odd-shaped items. You will move heavy materials in close quarters (e.g., narrow aisles or ramps, in and out of buildings, on and off trucks or other conveyance). You will operate power equipment and small hand tools to assist with warehousing duties. You will safely operate a forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, or other material handling equipment to gather items for shipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is : THE ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks including : 1. Knowledge of hazardous material processes and procedures is required to ensure safe handling and adherence to governing regulatory and policies. 2. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 3. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices and procedures. 4. Skill in and ability to use automated material processing equipment and systems to include computers, optical readers and scanners. Ability to enter, modify and retrieve information from electronic records, supply systems and reports. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Additional Information This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. A forty-hour work week is typical of this position. This position is at the full performance level. Recruitment incentives may be authorized to eligible new hires. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
