Duties :

  • You will provide timely, professional architectural products, services, and consultation for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities for the Navy and other Supported Commands.
  • You will lead multidisciplinary in-house design teams in providing architectural design work products and services within milestones and quality standards.
  • You will coordinate architectural design with engineering disciplines for both In-House and AE designed Design-Bid-Build and In House Design-Build projects.
  • You will execute design and analyses, utilizing advanced architectural software.
  • You will exhibit proficiency in the Whole Building Design Guide (WBGD), current version of AutoCAD, architectural design / analysis software, and Specs Intact, utilized for the completion of the design drawings and specifications.
  • You will provide post construction award services to include review and approval of contractor submittals.
  • You will serve as a mentor for new and junior architects in the organization

Qualifications

This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is : You must possess a CURRENT Professional Engineer or Registered Architect (RA) license / registration issued from the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or any State in the U.S.(NOTE : You must include a copy of your CURRENT license / registration with your application.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following : 1) Directing the preparation of highly complex multi-discipline projects, serving on A / E selection boards, and assisting acquisition personnel negotiating A / E contracts 2) Providing timely, professional architectural products, services and consultation for the planning design, construction and maintenance of facilities; 3) Performing technical management and oversight on execution of multi-disciplinary design projects; 4) Conducting development of complete working drawing and specifications for "design bid build" projects; 5) Utilizing architectural design / analysis software to complete design drawings and specifications.

Education Requirement :

Successful completion of a Bachelor's or higher degree in Architecture.

OR :

Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree in a field related to architecture that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following : structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems.

OR :

Have a combination of college-level education, training, and / or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings. The curriculum for a degree is in either architecture or architectural engineering and covers function, esthetics, site, structure, economics, mechanical-electrical, and other engineering problems related to the design and construction of buildings primarily (but not exclusively) intended to house human activities..

Condition of Employment :

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and / or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card to make official government purchases for goods and services.
  • Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.
