Apply today!Job Description Are you looking to join an exceptional engineering team that is working on a $4B construction project for the Naval nuclear Laboratory (NNL)? Facilities Engineering has an opening for an advanced interdisciplinary engineer. What is an interdisciplinary engineer you ask? It is someone who can work with and across multiple engineering disciplines, including Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, and Civil engineering. Our project spans all of these and more. We need someone who can learn to communicate between these specialties and help us oversee the construction activities, respond to questions from the field, and cooperate with multiple organizations to ensure the facility we deliver best meets all their needs. As a Facilities Engineer your duties will include providing oversight to project subcontractors to ensure the as-built facility meets all technical and functional requirements, provide cost estimating support for technical change requests, review subcontractor proposals for technical accuracy, and provide oversight of deficiency reporting and resolution. As an advanced engineer, you will be expected to complete simple to moderate engineering tasks on your own, after minimal training and instruction. More complex tasks will require you to team effectively with teams of diverse experience, disciplines, and backgrounds. As you gain experience working in the Naval Nuclear Laboratory environment, you will get the opportunity to lead small teams. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities : Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. We rely on the dedication and innovation of our nearly 8000 engineers, scientists, technicians, and support personnel. All candidates must be U.S. citizens.
