The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a motivated member to join our Industrial Fire Brigade. This position will respond to all emergencies on site by providing emergency response services as a trained Firefighter, NYS-EMT, Confined Space Rescue, and Hazardous Materials Technician. This position will monitor, control, and test industrial systems as well as fire suppression, and detection systems. The Fire Brigade conducts inspections and monitoring of facilities, work areas, and construction projects to identify and correct deficiencies and report abnormal conditions to supervision.
Members of the Fire Brigade will also be trained and expected to operate site industrial systems which can include drinking water, HVAC, storm water collection and processing, and various fire protection systems and related support equipment. The operational duties include but are not limited to; monitoring, controlling, and testing Site industrial systems, establishing system conditions for maintenance, responding to alarms, reporting abnormal conditions to supervision, and interfacing with engineering staff in the maintenance and operation of systems.

- High School Diploma / GED
- Valid Driver's License
- Currently qualified New York State Emergency Medical Technician Basic (NYS-EMT-B)
- Active CPR certificate or equivalent
- National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Firefighter 1 or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a career or volunteer firefighter
- 4 years or more of experience as a career or volunteer firefighter
- Firefighter 2 or equivalent
- Rope Rescue Technician or Equivalent
- Emergency Vehicle Operations Course
- Hazardous Materials Technician or equivalent
