Job Description
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to join the Examination Design Projects team. Our team is responsible for developing precision motion and data acquisition systems for examining spent nuclear fuel, materials specimens, and similar applications - often to be used in uniquely challenging underwater and irradiated environments. Your specific tasks will include research and development of novel technologies, proof of principle testing, mechanical design and analysis, integration with motion control elements, testing, and authoring end-user documentation. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical and software engineers, test sponsors, and system end-users.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience; or PhD degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Currently or previously NPE qualified; or CTE / ACRS and 1 year EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and 1 year as SRE.

Compensation and Benefits
Pay Range
83,600.00 - $130,700.00 annually
