Job Description
Shipyard Field Engineering is seeking dynamic individuals to work at the Newport News Shipbuilding Reactor Plant Contractors' Office (RPCO). This role offers significant autonomy and growth opportunities.
This position involves playing a key role in integrating the efforts of multiple stakeholders to ensure the success of naval nuclear ship maintenance and construction.
Integrated Plant Testing and Refueling Services
Hands-on work environment with a broad spectrum of responsibility
Technical support, consultation, and oversight through installation, testing, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of complex equipment and nuclear systems
Proactive problem identification and prevention to avoid impacts to cost and ship delivery schedules
Research, evaluation, and recommendation of new products and equipment upgrades as necessary
RPCO Field Engineers function independently to ensure the best interests of the Company.
This 5-year assignment provides career development opportunities, and it is recommended that candidates return to one of the laboratory locations after completing their field assignment to further their career as leaders within NNL.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
To be eligible for this position, you must have:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 9 years of relevant experience;
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 7 years of relevant experience;
Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part II qualified;
Qualified SIT and 3 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program;
Currently or previously CRE qualified;
6 years as SRE;
SRE qualified and 9 years of experience.
Preferred Skills
Good written and verbal communication skills are essential for this position.

Pay Range
The annual salary range for this position is $114,400.00 - $178,800.00, based on candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
