Job Description
We are seeking dynamic individuals to join our Shipyard Field Engineering team at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Reactor Plant Contractors' Office (RPCO). This role offers significant autonomy and opportunities for growth and development. Positions are available in Integrated Plant Testing and Refueling Services.
The Test Engineer position requires 8-10 months of in-house technical qualification, while the Reactor Servicing Engineer position requires approximately 6 months of in-house technical qualification, or less with prior applicable experience. Upon successful completion of the technical training at either the Knolls or Bettis laboratory, candidates will be relocated to Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
RPCO Field Engineers function as independent company representatives at nuclear-capable shipyards and Naval Bases. They conduct highly visible work with a broad spectrum of responsibility, including technical support, consultation, and oversight through the performance of installation, testing, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of complex equipment and nuclear systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in a shipboard industrial environment, meeting directly with ship's force, senior shipyard leadership, and Naval Reactors
- Provide technical direction for problem resolution and oversee compliance with contractual requirements
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new products and equipment upgrades as necessary
RPCO field engineers function independently to ensure the best interests of the Company.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
To be eligible for this role, candidates must possess one of the following combinations of knowledge and skill:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science-related field and 9 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science-related field and 7 years of relevant experience;
- Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part II qualified; or qualified SIT and 3 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program;
- Currently or previously CRE qualified; or 6 years as SRE; or SRE qualified and 9 years of experience.

Pay Range
The annual salary range for this position is $114,400.00 - $178,800.00.
