Summary You will serve as a Supply Technician in the Hazardous Material Management Divisions of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK. Responsibilities You will be responsible for inventory management of decentralized and decontrolled items, including supplies, equipment, forms, and publications. You will expedite the delivery of urgently required hazardous material items. You will perform technical screening on all requested materials to ensure materials meet customer requirements as well as ensuring material are environmentally compliant. You will maintain automated inventory records by conducting periodic physical inventories of hazardous materials and ensure all stock records are accurate. You will physically handle all hazardous material through the use of all types of material handling equipment and transport vehicles available to the hazardous material workforce. You will perform mathematical computations while conducting research to validate the accuracy of data collected; monitor usage data and research changes in trends to ensure proper stocks levels are maintained. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector utilizing knowledge and application of established supply regulations, policies, and procedures to maintain an accurate accounting and reporting system for hazardous material. Examples of specialized experience may include : 1) Conducting inventory management and physical distribution functions for Hazardous material; 2) Maintaining contact with customers and other offices on the requirements for Hazardous Material Items; 3) Moving and transporting Hazardous material to and from various destinations in accordance with material handling guidelines; 4) Utilizing automated systems for inventorying and recording records.
