Position Overview:
Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced Professional Geologist (PG) registered in Louisiana to support remediation and environmental services at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) in New Orleans, LA. This position involves managing and monitoring contaminated soil and groundwater remediation projects to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 6.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop work plans, interim summary reports, and final project reports for contaminated soil and groundwater remediation projects
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies (LDEQ and EPA Region 6), participate in routine virtual and onsite meetings, and present site information and data
- Provide support for remediation construction projects, including maintaining analytical databases and administrative records, developing schedules, and preparing cost estimates
- Lead and coordinate sampling activities, conduct analytical reviews, and summarize findings for reporting purposes
- Implement approved work plans according to Louisiana Risk Evaluation/Corrective Action Program (RECAP) and other applicable regulatory frameworks
- Provide administrative project support, including:
- Developing and maintaining schedules
- Meeting with regulatory agencies and providing requested information and analysis
- Developing cost estimates
- Preparing and delivering briefings to the Remediation Project Manager (RPM)
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Active Professional Geologist (PG) certification in the state of Louisiana
- Proven experience in soil and groundwater remediation, including developing work plans, conducting sampling, and producing final project reports
- Familiarity with Louisiana RECAP and federal regulatory frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate with state and federal regulators and present technical data effectively
- Proficiency in project scheduling, cost estimation, and database management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with remediation work at federally managed sites, such as NASA facilities
- Successful completion of projects resulting in regulatory closure or approval
- Familiarity with the Louisiana Risk Evaluation/Corrective Action Program (RECAP) regulatory framework
