BRIDGE SAFETY INSPECTOR
Pittsburgh & Western PA
The Bridge Safety Inspector will be responsible for conducting NBIS inspections of in-service transportation structures. The Bridge Safety Inspector will perform the duties of an inspection team member and enter inspection findings in PennDOT i-forms, review and edit bridge files in BMS2 and prepare inspection reports.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- NBIS inspections
- Condition assessments
- Bridge washings
- Minor maintenance activities
Typical work is 2-3 field days with the remainder of the week spent in the office completing paperwork. The majority of the work would be in Districts 10, 11 and 12. Initial Condition Assessments would add some field time and could include trips into D2 and D9. Paperwork would consist of completion of internal documents and the preparation and submission of NBIS reports.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position is performed primarily outdoors and therefore the worker will be exposed to varying weather conditions and natural elements. Ability to extensively bend, kneel, stand, shovel, and the lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs is required.
