Survey Technician - Instrument Operator

Primary Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following :
- Perform pre-departure routines such as : loading equipment, loading supplies, uploading data, and review of daily assignments. Responsible for making sure the vehicle is equipped and supplied for daily assignments.
- Immediately familiarize and conform to current N&W survey standards.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and follow safety protocol set forth.
- Perform tasks as directed for daily assignments.
- Ensure equipment batteries are fully charged for daily use.
- Keep an updated record inventory of the truck contents. Any malfunctioning, broken, lost, or stolen equipment must be reported to the Crew Chief and / or Chief of Surveys.
- Unload equipment as instructed at the end of each day.
- Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance to ensure surveying equipment is properly cleaned, adjusted, and in good working condition.
- Use professional conduct when dealing with co-workers, clients, observers and / or passers-by.

The position requires the ability to use fingers / hands, talk, stand, walk, reach, climb, balance, kneel and / or crouch. The position requires the ability to lift and carry roughly 40-70 lbs. The position requires the following specific types of vision : close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment :
Employee will need to be able to work in inclement outdoor weather conditions. Employee will work within and along : construction sites, high volume traffic areas, heavily wooded areas, waterways, occupied rails, heights over 6 feet, and precarious places. Employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, harmful insects, and harmful wildlife. Employee will be exposed to various other job related or site specific hazards.
