Position Overview:
As part of the talented Transducer Engineering team where you will research and develop transducers for Brunswick's new consumer sonar electronics along with maintenance of released products.

Essential Functions:
- Bring products from the conceptual/research phase, through design, prototype, qualification, and into production, while under the supervision of a senior staff utilizing Navico Group Product Development (HPPD) process
- Research, design, and development tasks as assigned
- Support existing products through design improvements or manufacturing support
- Design support such as environmental testing, test procedures, cost estimating, parts lists, prototype testing, etc.
- Assist in research of sonar technology and new transducer designs utilizing piezo-electric, composite, and other advanced materials
- Model and simulate designs as needed to ensure proper operation
- Characterize transducers, analyze results and determine performance, operational and environmental limits
- Perform lab testing of electrical and acoustic performance of transducers
- Perform on the water product testing to ensure products meet design specifications
- Other duties may be assigned

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics
- Some knowledge of sonar and transducer theory and design fundamentals
- Experience designing single-beam transducers using PZT and matching layers
- Understand methods and be able to perform characterization of transducers for performance
- Experience with echosounder, sidescan and phased array sonar systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with a global team/audience
- Strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills
- Experience with some of the common tools of prototyping (3D printers, hand tools, soldering)
- Experience with parametric modeling (Creo, Solidworks, Inventor, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Engineering Acoustics
- Thorough knowledge of sonar and transducer theory and design fundamentals
- Experience with underwater electroacoustic measurements and calibration methods used to characterize transducers
- Experience with arrays, composites and broadband designs
- Experience with all common tools for transducer prototyping (3D printers, hand tools, soldering, lathe, end mill, bandsaw, table saw, molding, laser cutting, bonding and laminating)
- Experience with Creo
Working Conditions:
- Travel 5-10% of the time both domestically and internationally
- Hybrid work environment with a requirement of 2-3 days a week onsite
- Occasional on water testing required so will be on boats for testing purposes
- There is a requirement to lift, push and pull a minimum of 25 lbs on a continuous basis along with a need to walk, twist and bend continuously while performing on water tests of new products.
The anticipated pay range for this position is $69,000 to $110,500 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job- related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
