Position Overview
As part of the growing organization, we are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a group of test engineers and safety drivers to support autonomous vehicle validation. This position will report to the Chief Engineer of the Vehicle Validation Group.
This position will be located at International’s Advanced Technical Center in Elmendorf, TX which is just outside San Antonio. Support will also be required at International’s World Head Quarters in Lisle, IL and our Proving Grounds in New Carlisle, IN on a regular basis in addition to occasional other business travel. International Business travel may also be required to partner locations as required.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with regulatory and compliance teams to ensure safe operation of AV’s at all times
- Develop and lead a group of engineers responsible for data collection and analysis on Autonomous vehicles that will support engineer development teams
- Develop and lead a group of safety drivers that will be responsible for the safe operation of autonomous vehicles
- Collaborate with AV development team, vehicle dynamics validation and all supporting internal teams for vehicle signoffs and test planning
- Establish and maintain vehicle test schedule
- Establish preventive maintenance schedule and coordinate with onsite field test coordinator / operations
- Provide clear communications to the status of testing and vehicles health to leadership
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
- At least 6 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience, including at least 1 year of lead experience
OR
- Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
- At least 4 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience, including at least 1 year of lead experience
OR
- PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
- At least 2 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience, including at least 1 year of lead experience
Additional Requirements
- Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. International Motors does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
Desired Skills
- 3-5 years experience with managing cross functional team of direct reports
- Experienced and positive leader with a proven track record
- Worked with software and systems development onboard and/or offboard
- Enthusiasm and the ability to see people’s capabilities and fostering overall technical and professional growth
- Strong in building teams, communicative, and energized by challenges
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and challenging environment
- Engineering leadership and/or personnel management
- Experience in Automotive or Commercial Vehicle industry
- Commercial Driver’s License Class A, not required, but since leading a team or drivers and engineers, it is important to understand and be familiar with FMCSA rules and regulations
