What are the responsibilities and job description for the ePowertrain Engineering Program Manager position at Navistar, Inc.?
Navistar has a great opportunity for a ePowertrain Engineering Program Manager.
The individual will develop and manage the ePowertrain domain-specific workplans to achieve program/project milestones and deliverables related to Navistar electrified commercial vehicles.
The ePowertrain domain includes EV specific components such as high voltage batteries, electric drives, power converters, distribution modules and related ePowertrain domain systems and control software.
*This is a hybrid position that can be in based in our Rochester Hills, MI, Lisle, IL, or San Antonio, TX locations.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop workplans and resource estimates for advanced and production ePowertrain vehicle programs and larger-scope projects. Work with the ePowertrain team, other Navistar teams, and Traton groups to establish a common understanding of program/project deliverables, resource requirements, due dates and priorities.
- Work with ePowertrain engineering leadership and engineers to prioritize team activities throughout the program/project lifecycles.
- Organize work and information flow in alignment with Navistar’s and Traton’s development processes, online tools, and program/project management methods.
- Accept program/project execution accountability.
- Track progress and use communication skills to report program/project status - budget, labor and other expenses, and deliverables as well as program/project risks, issues, and resolutions.
- Collaborate with ePowertrain engineering leadership and engineers to reduce program/project risks and rectify issues to ensure successful program/project completion and delivery.
- Represent the ePowertrain team in larger program meetings.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- At least 8 years of experience in product design/development
- At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
OR
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- At least 6 years of experience in product design/development
- At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
OR
- PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- At least 3 years of experience in product design/development
- At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
Additional Requirements
- Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills
- Automotive-related Engineering Degree (System, Electrical, Mechanical)
- A high degree of interest and enthusiasm for emerging vehicle propulsion technologies
- Prior experience with automotive product development process and product launch
- Training and experience in traditional and agile program/project management methods; PMP certification or similar a plus
- Prior experience with electric vehicle programs, EV electronic/electrical modules, and/or EV systems preferred
