What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. State Tax Analyst position at Navistar, Inc.?
We are currently seeking a Sr. State Tax Analyst to join the Navistar Tax Department.
The Sr. State Tax Analyst will be responsible for working with the State Tax Manager in a collaborative multi-entity manufacturing environment to ensure that state tax accounting, tax compliance, tax audits and tax planning regarding the Company’s domestic operations are compliant and executed in accordance with a culture that promotes the highest ethical standards of accounting.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of quarterly US state income tax provisions calcs and monthly forecasts of state tax rate and franchise taxes.
- Preparation of timely and accurate filing of state income and franchise tax returns via a co-sourced big four accounting firm arrangement.
- Maintains current knowledge of tax laws with a focus in the US state income/franchise tax area and research/documentation of impacts to Navistar.
- Provide support for state audits, as needed.
- Identifies and implements improvements to policies and processes.
- Utilizes a variety of programs, including tax accounting/compliance software, and electronic. research.
- May instruct, coach, or provide informal guidance to other professionals or colleagues.
- Engage in special tax projects and initiatives, including opportunities for cross-functional projects.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 2 years of accounting, finance or tax experience
OR
- Master’s degree
- At least 1 year of accounting, finance or tax experience
OR
- At least 5 years of accounting, finance or tax experience
Additional Requirements
- Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills
- Previous experience working at a CPA firm or a multinational corporation.
- Minimum of 3-4 years of tax experience, including familiarity with state income/franchise tax.
- Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.
- Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Requires in-depth knowledge and experience, with a full understanding of area of specialization.
- Fully proficient in applying established standards, resolving a wide range of complex problems of diverse scope in innovative ways, including problems where precedent may not exist.
- Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Prioritize and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, and experience with tax accounting software tools, a plus.
- Experience with automation tools, such as Alteryx, a plus.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates strong managerial/coaching and team development skills.
