Position Description
The Mental Health Technician (MHT) provides direct care alongside a multidisciplinary team to assist and support clients throughout the entire treatment experience. The MHT supervises and observes clients to ensure that clients' physical and emotional needs are met, and clients' safety is maintained.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate daily schedule for clients, including participating in and providing support during groups, meals, activities, and events.
- Maintain awareness of clients' needs, actions, participation in activities, and location at all times.
- Evaluate behavioral and emotional needs of clients and provides response, including crisis intervention.
- Practice compliance with all recordkeeping and assigned documentation of clients' programming, challenges, and progress during treatment.
- Review client assessments and treatment plans in collaboration with clinical team to help meet goals and objectives of any individualized service plans.
- Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational skills groups.
- Promote interaction and engagement amongst program participants.
- Communicate positively and supportively with all team members, clients, parents, partners, and guests to promote a safe, nurturing environment.
- Maintain confidentiality of all clients and program-related activities.
- Assist with food provision such as distributing lunch or snacks.
