Rate: $34.00/hr on W2
Shift Schedule: 3-2-3 rotating day/night shift (6 AM - 6 PM, 6 PM - 6 AM)
Top Skills Required:

Job Description:
The Associate Fermentation Scientist will be part of the Technical Operations Department and will support the manufacture of HPV Gardasil as part of a multidisciplinary team. The candidate should have a fundamental knowledge of fermentation and cell culture, protein chemistry and purification, analytical techniques, and/or laboratory operations.
This role will involve working with a Process Development Team utilizing various fermentation and purification techniques to support pharmaceutical manufacturing at both commercial and bench scales. The team focuses on investigation support, process understanding, and technology transfer to the Elkton site.
Education Minimum Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Life Sciences, or Engineering)
Required Experience and Skills:
- Proficiency in technical writing and laboratory documentation (notebooks, chemical inventory, data management)
- Strong collaborative and teamwork skills
- Technical problem-solving abilities, data interpretation, and presentation skills
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Experience with fermentation or cell culture studies at the lab scale
- Hands-on experience with shake flask fermentation studies
- Knowledge of yeast fermentation and metabolism
- Experience with laboratory and facility operations
- Industry experience in a similar role
- Laboratory-scale process characterization experience
- Troubleshooting experimental and equipment-related technical issues
Responsibilities:
- Conduct fermentation and/or purification of proteins/VLPs at lab and pilot scales
- Support process development activities and manufacturing investigations
- Design and troubleshoot laboratory-scale experiments
- Maintain high-quality laboratory documentation and technical reports
- Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Manage sample handling and adhere to strict deadlines
- Ensure good laboratory and aseptic practices
