Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist
Location: Fort Worth, TX 76104
Duration: 3 Months
Schedule: Night Shift | 10 PM - 7 AM | 5 x 8 (40 hours/week)
Compensation: Up to $1,500 weekly
Key Responsibilities
Specimen Integrity
- Ensure specimen integrity by addressing collection and processing issues.
- Identify conditions that impact test results.
- Maintain specimen integrity during testing.
Laboratory Operations
- Manage workflow and monitor outstanding tests.
- Troubleshoot and follow up on missed tests.
- Follow computer downtime procedures.
- Notify when supplies need ordering.
- Utilize downtime for other tasks (e.g., kit evaluation, housekeeping).
- Contribute to quality patient care and cost-effectiveness.
- Assist hospital and lab coworkers.
Professional Accountability
- Train new employees, volunteers, and students.
- Assess employee competency if required.
- Participate in continuing education.
- Complete mandatory training and health requirements.
- Maintain satisfactory time/attendance and professional appearance.
- Seek help when needed and report issues.
- Promote customer satisfaction and adhere to professional behaviors.
Test Procedures
- Follow test procedures and protocols.
- Evaluate and report results accurately.
- Communicate relevant patient data to staff.
- Relay key information to the next shift and colleagues.
- Provide guidance to technical staff and support personnel.
Quality Control & Documentation
- Adhere to quality control guidelines.
- Resolve QC issues before reporting results.
- Document QC and corrective actions.
- Perform and log equipment maintenance.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Follow proficiency testing protocols.
Safety & Compliance
- Implement safety and infection control practices.
- Follow HIPAA and hospital safety policies.
- Participate in safety drills.
- Report incidents using the event reporting tool.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Microbiology experience.
- Strong positive interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly.
- Problem-solving ability and time management skills.
- Organizational skills to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer literacy.
Education & Licensure
- High School Diploma or higher.
- MLS (ASCP) OR MLT (ASCP) certification required.
