Job Description:
A Psychologist is needed to conduct court-ordered mental health evaluations for civil commitment and probate cases in district court. The examiner will be responsible for assessing individuals, preparing professional reports, and providing testimony as required by law.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct forensic mental health evaluations for civil commitment and guardianship cases.
Prepare detailed psychological reports and submit them at least 48 hours before scheduled court hearings.
Provide expert testimony in court when required.
Utilize clinical psychology principles, theories, and techniques to assess individuals.
Select and administer appropriate psychometric tests for evaluations.
Apply knowledge of legal standards relevant to mental health examinations.
Review case records and interview individuals undergoing assessment.
Ensure compliance with state policies regarding psychological and psychiatric evaluations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical or Forensic Psychology.
Licensed Psychologist in the state of Minnesota (or eligibility for licensure).
Experience conducting forensic mental health evaluations and preparing court-ordered psychological reports.
Strong understanding of civil commitment laws and legal standards in forensic assessments.
Ability to communicate technical findings effectively in court.
Familiarity with psychometric testing and forensic assessment tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
