Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician
Location: Ithaca, NY
Duration: 13 Week Contract (Extendable)
Shift: Monday – Friday (Mid Shift: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM)
Job Description:
We are seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for a 13 week contract in Ithaca, NY. The technician will be responsible for receiving, sorting, processing, assembling, and sterilizing both patient care equipment and surgical instruments following established protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Process and sterilize instruments using Steam, ETO, Starred, and Steris sterilizers
- Conduct biological tests and Bowie-Dick tests, ensuring proper incubation, reading, and recording
- Maintain sterilization records, ensuring accuracy in documentation
- Utilize computerized instrument count sheets for inventory tracking
- Assemble and prepare case carts based on surgical preference lists
- Communicate with the nursing team regarding missing instruments or supply shortages
- Lift up to 50 lbs., push/pull up to 60 lbs., and stand for the entire shift
- Follow Universal Precautions and proper PPE usage
Requirements:
- Certification: CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CBSPDT
- Experience: Completion of a Central Processing Course or 1 year of instrument processing experience
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
