Job Summary:
The Surgical Services Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The RN collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety, proper surgical protocols, and optimal outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare surgical suites and ensure compliance with sterile techniques.
- Assist surgeons during procedures, providing necessary instruments and support.
- Monitor patient conditions and respond to intraoperative and postoperative complications.
- Maintain accurate documentation of surgical interventions and patient care.
- Educate patients and families on preoperative and postoperative care.
- Adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control protocols.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in Surgical Services in a major acute care hospital.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and perioperative nursing care.
Education & Licensure:
- Required Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN).
- Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – AHA
- New Jersey State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license
Work Schedule:
- Location: Healthcare facilities across New Jersey
- Hours: 36 hours per week (3 x 12-hour shifts)
- Duration: 13 Weeks
- Shift Availability: Day Shift
- Requirements: Every other weekend, holiday shifts required, no on-call
