We are seeking a dedicated and professional Armed Guard to join our security team at Naval Station Great Lakes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in law enforcement, military service or security services, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining safety and security. As an Armed Guard, you will be responsible for the first layer of defense in a security-in-depth concept to deter, detect, delay assess, respond, defeat and document unauthorized access to the Navy installation, protecting property, personnel, and assets while ensuring a secure environment for all.
Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect any suspicious activities or unauthorized access.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and respond to alarms or incidents as necessary.
- Enforce rules and regulations to maintain order and safety within the premises.
- Conduct thorough inspections of facilities, vehicles and grounds, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
- Regulate pedestrian and vehicular traffic to prevent accidents and to ease congestion and parking issues.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies when required.
- Document incidents and prepare detailed reports for management review.
- Engage in conflict management to resolve disputes effectively while maintaining professionalism.
Skills
- Proven experience in law enforcement, security or military service is preferred.
- Knowledge of loss prevention techniques and strategies.
- Proficient in conflict management and de-escalation tactics.
- Strong observational skills with the ability to remain alert at all times.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with diverse individuals.
