Planning and Administration of Recreational Facilities (70%)
- Assists manager/supervisor with planning, coordinating, executing, evaluating, managing community recreation activities and services that may include, but are not limited to; information, tickets, tours, bowling, convenience food, concierge services, library, computer and internet services, gaming equipment, indoor play areas, DIY auto program, outdoor equipment rentals and programs, paintball, multi-purpose rental spaces, and parks and picnic spaces.
- Evaluates popular trends, customer feedback and utilization metrics and proposes and schedules programming accordingly. Follows procedures, guidelines, and operating instructions related to program management.
- Helps identify program needs, set established prices, and orders equipment and supplies. Maintains records of purchases, inventory, which may include ticket and voucher sales, rental fees and other accountable items. Makes sure inventory levels are kept at optimum levels. Justifies discrepancies. Reports all findings to supervisor.
- Ensures customers' needs are being satisfied, aiming to provide excellent customer service by promoting and exhibiting Star Customer Service principals throughout the organization. Trains other employees in customer service techniques. Finds solutions and resolves internal and external customer problems and complaints.
- Position is a working supervisor, working the customer service counter as necessary to include, but not limited to, checking out equipment and library books, selling tickets, answering phones, taking reservations, and registering patrons for trips and programs. Effectively operates a point of sales system and various other software programs.
- Assists management in developing, maintaining, and monitoring execution of the annual NAF and APF operating budget.
- Coordinates with other specialists, supervisor and Marketing department to help promote, market, and advertise programs and activities.
- Acts as on-site supervisor as needed/required by manager and assists in the supervision of up to 15 employees including but not limited to NF-0189-02 Recreation Assistants and Guides, Bowling Mechanics, Custodians, seasonal employees, interns, teen hires and volunteers.
- The incumbent is an independent work leader, responsible for delegating and balancing the workload among employees, ensuring employee work assignments are completed in a timely manner, and monitoring work progress. Estimates work completion dates, checks work in process, and maintains records of work accomplishments. Gives directions to employees within area of authority and trains new employees on job techniques, instructions, and operating procedures.
- Assists manager in resolving employee complaints and grievances. Assists with personnel actions, complying with Equal Employment Opportunity standards.
- Provides input to awards, discipline and performance evaluations of personnel. Assists in hiring, promotion and termination actions.
- In the manager's absence will act as the Recreation Center Manager, to include scheduling, time-keeping sign-off, reporting of injuries and leave approval.
- Performs duties with limited supervision, making day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities, and solves problems as they arise.

- The work requires frequent physical exertion while instructing or guiding participants in a variety of activities. Work may require sitting, walking, long periods of standing, bending and lifting of moderately heavy items up to 40 pounds.
- Work may require working outside for special events or leading outdoor group outings or trips.
- Hours of work will vary as required by the needs of the program to include split days off, evenings, weekends and holidays.

- Four years of specialized experience in recreation with progression in management experience.
- A combination of education and specialized experience
