Summary
This position is located at the Fitness Division, Aquatics Branch of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department. The primary purpose of this position is to perform lifeguard duties which involve the safeguarding of the lives of patrons of the indoor or outdoor pool located at NCBC Gulfport.

Duties
- Responsible for the safety of swimmers in the pool.
- Remain alert and continuously observe swimming area to ensure safety of patrons.
- Enforce swimming pool rules and regulations, assist swimmers having difficulty and rescue those in trouble.
- Perform rescue work and when necessary, render first aid until such time as qualified doctor or other emergency personnel are present.
- In case of a serious accident will call for an ambulance.
- Prepare complete accident report.
- Alert supervisor of unusual circumstances.
- Perform any necessary housekeeping tasks to ensure proper standards of cleanliness, sanitation and appearance of pool and related facilities (vacuuming pool, cleaning deck, etc.)
- Inspect pool and surrounding area ensuring cleanliness and safety at all times.
- Check chlorine and PH levels on a scheduled basis.
- Immediately communicate problems or concerns of the aquatic environment to the aquatics manager.
- Determine patron eligibility and provides quality customer service to patrons.
- Answer questions and provides program information to patrons.
- May assist with scheduled pool parties after hours of operation or with a base wide special event.
- Maintain daily logs and records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.
- Must have current LIFEGAURD with CPR/First Aide certification and upload proof.
