Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for the Naval Nuclear Energy Program. The Nuclear Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining naval nuclear reactors, ensuring power generation, and maintaining radiation safety protocols on a day-to-day basis for the Navy's nuclear power plants. New operators will attend an 18-month training course prior in Charleston, SC prior to being stationed as a part of the engineering team on a U.S. Navy submarine or aircraft carrier. Initial contracts include 2 years to complete initial training followed by 4 years assigned to a reactor.
Compensation
- Elevated starting rank of E-3 with automatic advancement to E-4 following completion of first 6 months of schooling.
- Attend all-expenses-paid 18-month mechanical or electrical nuclear energy training program in Charleston, SC, earning 77 college credits.
- Signing bonuses ranging from $50k-$75k.
- Extension bonus maximum of $100k that includes automatic advancement to the rank of E-5.
Qualifications
- High school diploma with strong academic performance in math and science.
- U.S. Citizen
- Qualifying ASVAB scores
- Meet the physical and medical requirements for U.S. military service.
