Job Description
NBC Select, NBC News’s fast-growing product recommendation and shopping site, is seeking a creative, self-starting Associate Social Media Editor to focus on creating, maintaining, and analyzing social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, X, TikTok, Instagram, BlueSky, Threads and YouTube for the @nbcselect accounts. The ideal candidate will have a passion for high-quality service journalism and the drive to help grow a new brand in a crowded market, as well as the ability to creatively package, edit and source video content that will resonate and help build an engaged social following. This role will focus on the @nbcselect accounts across networks, so demonstrated interest or experience with commerce content is a must.
What you'll do:
- Copywrite and schedule Facebook, Threads, X and BlueSky posts for NBC Select content
- Identify content that can be translated to Instagram via graphic treatment, stories, or otherwise
- Identify content that can translate to video, via Instagram Reels, TikTok or Youtube
- Help to create video via script-writing, filming, editing and more
- Keep up with the evolving social media landscape, new features and best practices on each platform
- Pitch new social media ideas based on editorial content or pitches
- Help curate and follow an organic content calendar with the social media team, facilitating reposts and fresh treatments of timely or high-performing content.
- Use social media engagement, reach and traffic analytics to make informed content decisions

Qualifications
- 1-2 years experience in Social Media for a media or publishing brand
- Experience or demonstrated interest in commerce content
- Experience for a major news brand a plus
- Sound editorial and journalistic judgement
- Demonstrated knowledge of online content management systems and multimedia storytelling
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills under deadline pressure
Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of social media best practices, capabilities and trends
- Experience with social media scheduling and analytics platforms
- Attention to detail and ability to make quick decisions
- Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work well in a collaborative, energetic environment and be a team player
- Ability to approach roadblocks analytically and thoughtfully
