Position Overview
NBME® is recruiting for a Manager of NBME's Assessment Alliance in the Growth & Innovation Division. The Manager, Assessment Alliance will oversee operations, people management, and services for the Assessment Alliance, engaging the broader health professions community to support ensure that new product development at NBME meets their needs. Through collaboration with leadership, cross-unit staff, and external partners, the Manager will support promising initiatives.
The Assessment Alliance is a program to identify, recruit, onboard and manage volunteers from the health professions education community, who provide their expertise and insight for our research and development projects. The Manager will drive strategy, policy development and operational excellence, while also serving as the primary contact for the Assessment Alliance. Key responsibilities include developing budgets, monitoring program performance, ensuring volunteer satisfaction, and leading initiatives to enhance efficiency and service quality.
This position is primarily remote, with flexibility for hybrid or onsite work within 50 miles of Philadelphia, PA.

Together with the Federation of State Medical Boards, NBME develops and manages the United States Medical Licensing Examination®, which measures the ability to apply knowledge and skills that form the basis of safe and effective patient care. Our Competency-based Assessment unit is focused on new methods as well as the optimization of assessment in the workplace and education.
As a result of leadership in ongoing research, innovative measurement practices and the exploration of forward-thinking assessment modalities and improvements, NBME advances assessment science. Our grant and funding opportunities further support this dedication to medical education and assessment science. We help develop the next generation of assessment professionals through our Summer Psychometric Internship Program. Through the Stemmler Fund, Strategic Educators Enhancement Fund and Latin America Grants Program, researchers and educators can continue to improve the assessment of health care professionals around the world.

Compensation we are offering for this position ranges $120,800 - $151,000/year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, implementation, and strategic direction of the Assessment Alliance, ensuring alignment with long- and short-term objectives.
- Manage cross-functional coordination to enhance program operations, policies, and service quality.
- Lead budgeting, financial planning, and compliance efforts to optimize program performance.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support program execution and customer satisfaction.
- Represent NBME at conferences and external meetings, developing and delivering presentations and program materials.
- Manage processes and tools (databases) for capture of all pertinent information on active and inactive volunteers.
- Continually improves processes, finding efficiencies and reducing redundancy in processes.
- Use data-driven insights to monitor program performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive strategic initiatives.
- Manage a portfolio of strategically oriented collaborative relationships with external investigators, health professions education programs, and organizations
- Best practices in community engagement are documented and disseminated to appropriate staff, including program specifications and contracts, if applicable.
- Effectively develops and delivers presentations about NBME programs to external groups. Represents NBME's interests at professional meetings and conferences.
- High quality services are developed, provided, and maintained; volunteer satisfaction measures are developed and maintained. Appropriate actions are initiated, as needed, for improvement.
- Budgets are prepared and monitored for compliance.
- Policies, procedures and contracts for services are established and maintained.
- Improvements and efficiencies to current procedures around volunteer information are implemented as needed.
- Strategic initiatives and priorities are developed and communicated to cross-unit staff; oversight is provided for the implementation of strategic initiatives.
- Summary reports and updates are provided as needed to governance and committees and, as appropriate, to organizations and/or scholarly publications.
- Keep current on trends in the medical and/or assessment communities and share knowledge for the benefit of other staff.
