The North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections (NCDAC) is the largest state agency and is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. The NCDAC / Support Services / Division of Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance (DECM) is recruiting for an energized and collaborative Electrician II to be a part of the Coastal Region Maintenance Team. This position reports to the Eastern Correctional Institution in Maury, NC and will be tasked with completing electrical preventative maintenance and like-in-kind Force Account electrical system replacements.
A successful candidate for this position shall have journeyman-level experience in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures; be able to work independently to complete work assignments received by a supervisor; read and interpret blueprints; and perform other assigned duties.
Work Schedule :
This position requires the daily commute to Eastern Correctional Institution in Maury, NC, while also assisting the Coastal Region Maintenance Team with electrical preventative maintenance at other regional Institutions. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The work schedule is Monday – Friday and may require some weekend work and overnight travel to meet the demands of the organization.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following :
- Demonstrated experience in the installation of primary and secondary electrical conduit and circuitry for electrical distribution systems.
- Demonstrated experience with standard testing equipment to diagnose electrical components.
- Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) standards.
- Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
