As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state's pay plans which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range will be $58,613– $102,574.

- Conduct Safety Audits & Inspections – Independently schedule, audit, and inspect a variety of facilities, including prisons, offices, industries, and construction sites.
- Ensure Compliance – Apply your expertise in OSHA standards, NFPA regulations, and N.C. State Building Codes to identify risks and recommend improvements.
- Investigate & Analyze – Lead investigations into serious accidents, incidents, and property losses, preparing detailed reports with actionable insights.
- Advise & Educate – Provide expert guidance to field personnel, interpreting regulations and offering technical support.
- Develop Training & Policies – Create and deliver safety and health training programs to enhance workplace safety culture.
- Collaborate & Lead – Participate in safety committees and offer hands-on management guidance to ensure best practices are met.

- Providing assistance to field personnel through interpretation of regulations and standards.
- Providing technical advice to field personnel through research and consultation with appropriate authorities.
- Conducting investigations of serious accidents, incidents and property loss and prepare analytical reports.
- Developing and conducting safety and health related training and policies.
- Participating in safety committee meetings and provide safety management guidance to the field.
- Being knowledgeable of applicable occupational safety and health regulations of OSHA; NIOSH; International and North Carolina State Building Codes; National Electric Code standards; NFPA standards; Center for Disease Control guidelines; N.C. Public Health Regulations; ANSI standards; North Carolina State Employees Workplace Requirements Program for Safety & Health policies; Department of Transportation regulations; EPA regulations regarding solid waste, hazardous waste, medical waste, storm water runoff, spill prevention control and counter measure plans, asbestos and lead; and other consensus standards in order to guide agency managers in the promotion and development of policies and programs that provide safe and healthful work places for employees, visitors, clients and sentenced offenders.
- Draft policy and programs for review by the Safety Director and initiate implementation at appropriate locations.
- Develop lesson plans and provide training or conduct informational meetings with appropriate staff throughout the region
- Conducts annual audits and inspections of all Department of Adult Corrections work sites, equipment, environmental working conditions and employee exposures, written programs, training, procedure implementation, reporting and recordkeeping at all Department of Adult Corrections locations within the Central region. Audit and inspection reports are issued to appropriate agency management personnel with guidelines and timetables for correction of deficiencies.
