The Challenge
We are looking for a skilled mechanic to join our Jacksonville Equipment team.
In this role, you will:
- Perform semi-skilled small engine, automotive, and heavy equipment repair
- Service, inspect, repair, rebuild, and diagnose mechanical systems for gasoline, diesel, and alternative-powered engines/equipment. Work ranges from inspection and service to moderately complex mechanical systems analysis using advanced diagnostic instruments and software and conducting parts/systems failure analysis.
- Determine materials, techniques, and tools to accomplish work assignments varying in complexity depending on the type of mechanical system/ancillary components/equipment.
- Perform recurring and related tasks and repairs, such as inspecting and replacing brake pads and shoes, replacing regulators, alternators and belts, and fitting/repairing standard aftermarket upgrades and equipment, preventative maintenance, tires and tubes, wheels & rims, cranking systems, lighting systems, cooling systems and hydraulic systems.
What You Bring
- A complete set of mechanic tools.
- Experience repairing and replacing tires,
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on 1 of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, and heavy equipment.
- Skills using 2 tools and pieces of equipment, such as wrenches, sockets, battery charger, hydraulic jacks, loader, forklift, automotive/truck lift, fuel service truck, tire changer, tire balancer, welder, cutting torch, diagnostic equipment, computer, tire jack, tire balance machine, pneumatic wrench, diagnostic gauges, electronic tester, air impact wrench, air compressor, air gun, or torque wrench
- Ability to safely operate CDL-required equipment/trucks with manual and automatic transmissions.
- A Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement (Don't have it? Still Apply! You can get it within 360 days of hire through our on-the-job training).
- Safety toe footwear.
Notes
- The role requires working during any bad weather, such as snow and/or ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. that can lead to working extended daily hours, weekends, and holidays.
- We will conduct a pre-employment drug test and a background check for your previous employers over the past 3 years about controlled substances/alcohol testing.
- We may require EPA certification as a Type I, II, III, or Universal technician.
Education & Experience
- High School/GED diploma, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience in repair work.
