The Challenge
We are hiring an Entry-Level Engineering Technician to join our Salisbury Resident Engineering team.
In this role, you will:
- Help and support engineers and senior technicians in construction inspection, surveying, materials testing, materials sampling, erosion control inspection, and construction traffic control audits.
- Inspect for compliance and/or codes.
- Collect and analyze field data.
- Test materials.
- Review and interpret design plans.
- Analyze engineering-related and product data.
- Implement construction layouts.
- Measure, stake, mark, and clear brush.
- Use testing instruments to read plan details, make accurate field measurements, and inspect roadway/structure components.
What You Bring
- Knowledge and understanding of the general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, or construction surveying.
- Computer knowledge and skills using laptops, iPads, and software.
- Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.
- Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
- Knowledge of standards and specifications and plan reading experience.
- Good enough eyesight to use testing instruments, read plan details, make accurate field measurements and inspect roadway and structure components.
- Ability to work while being exposed to high traffic volumes, at heights over water or traffic, and climbing on bridge substructures/superstructures.
- Ability to safely perform manual tasks involving bush axes and other tools on steep and rough terrain.
- Fitness to carry testing equipment over rough and steep terrain.
- Strength to lift and carry 50 pounds.
- Ability to work safely work high above ground.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Solid proficiency in recordkeeping and use of engineering testing equipment.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Safety Toe shoes.
Education & Experience
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
