The Challenge
We're looking for an entry-level Engineering Technician to join our Southern Avenue Engineering team.
In this role, you will:
- Support senior technicians and engineers in functional areas such as construction inspection, surveying, materials sampling, testing, and construction traffic control.
- Enter specific project information into SharePoint/SharePlus.
- Perform standardized and non-standardized tests and assignments by compiling, analyzing, computing, editing, and processing field data.
- Accurately maintain daily records of work accomplished.
- Apply a safety philosophy and program to all operations.
- Perform entry-level materials sampling, testing and inspections.
What You Bring
- Possess knowledge and understanding of general concepts and practices used in highway construction and design.
- Ability to conduct routine inspections for compliance with contract agreements, standard/codes, and specifications.
- Math knowledge (Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry).
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
- Communications skills to communicate effectively with coworkers, management, and the public.
- Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
- Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
- Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.
- Computer knowledge and skills using computer equipment, iPad, and software.
- Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and /or construction surveying.
- You promote a safe working environment.
- Ability to withstand extreme weather and terrain conditions and work in close proximity of high volumes of traffic and heavy construction equipment.
- You are proficient in recordkeeping.
- Ability to obtain and maintain certifications to perform material sampling and testing.
- Ability to safely drive a motor vehicle.
- Safety toe shoes.
Education & Experience
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.

Note
- You may have to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
